This publication is an analysis of scientific research in the field of information culture for teachers. The aim is to identify the key areas of study related to developing the information culture of various professionals, including teachers of Russian as a foreign language. The article presents an analysis of scientific domestic and foreign studies concerning the structural organization of the information culture of a teacher. The differentiation of the characteristics of the professional activity of a teacher of Russian as a foreign language, significant for the formation of the information culture of specialists in this profile, is presented. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that for the first time the levels of formation of the information culture of a teacher of Russian as a foreign language have been identified and described; their content has been determined. As a result, the content and structure of the phenomenon of "information culture of a teacher of Russian as a foreign language" are determined, and the author's definition of this concept is formulated.
