In a blog published last week, Nora Volkow, M.D., director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) seems to promote office‐based prescription and pharmacy dispensing of methadone to treat opioid use disorder (OUD). This is not the first time she has said this, although more directly in the past (see ADAW https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/adaw.34120 ). Of course, federal agencies do not comment on pending legislation, and there is some, although it appears to be languishing (see ADAW https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/adaw.34134 ).
