This study describes the effects of age on neurovascular coupling under altered CO 2 conditions. We demonstrated that both hypercapnia and hypocapnia suppress neurovascular coupling (NVC) responses. Furthermore, that middle age exhibits an NVC response comparable with younger adults under hypercapnia, and older adults under hypocapnia.
