The paper examines the correlation between legality and law and order as fundamental legal categories from a theoretical perspective. It is noted that the concepts of legality and law and order are dialectically paired interrelated categories within the legal system. A distinctive feature of law and order is that it is not contingent upon the perception of law as a complex system of social order. Rather, it is the result of the activity and efficiency of the state mechanism in a particular historical period of its development. This concept determines the evolution of the state and law. It is a defining characteristic of a specific phenomenon within the realm of legal life. The author of the work posits that the concepts of legality and law and order require a novel interpretation in light of the advent of the post-classical stage of science. The author's interpretation of the content of these categories is made clear.
