A Case Study on the Modernization of Yi Ethnic Music in China: Focusing on the “July Torch Festival” by the Mountain Eagles Band

이족(彝族)은 노래와 춤에 능해 "달의 딸"로 불리며, "4대 명강" "구현" 등 중국 소수민족 전통음악의 상징이 이족음악의 미학적 매력을 보여준다. 이민족 음악은 팝과 융합되고, 마운틴이글밴드 등 대표적인 음악가들은 점차 전통음악 현대화의 길을 모색하고 있다. 이전 연구에서는 현장 조사, 인터뷰 설문지 등 전통적인 방법이 대부분이었지만 민족 전통 음악의 현대화에 대한 사례 연구는 매우 부족했다. 이에 본 연구에서는 중국 특색의 이족음악을 대상으로 하여 대표적인 가수와 작품을 사례로 하여 중국 소수민족 전통음악의 현대적 전승방식을 모색하고자 한다. 중국 전통음악 현대화의 성공사례 분석을 통해 한국 전통음악 현대화에 이론적 참고가 될 수 있다. The Yi people, known for their singing and dancing, are referred to as "Daughters of the Moon." Chinese minority traditional musical symbols such as the "Four Famous Tunes" and "Mouth Harp" showcase the aesthetic charm of Yi music. Yi music has gradually integrated with popular music, with representative musicians like the Mountain Eagles Band exploring a path for the modernization and inheritance of traditional music. Previous research has predominantly employed traditional methods such as field surveys and interviews, but case studies on the modernization of ethnic traditional music are notably lacking. Therefore, this study focuses on the distinctive Yi music of China, using representative singers and works as case studies to explore the methods of modernizing the inheritance of Chinese minority traditional music. Analyzing successful cases of traditional music modernization in China can provide theoretical references for the modernization of traditional Korean music.
