The level of physical fitness was determined by the results of the manifestation of basic physical qualities (strength, speed, coordination abilities, as well as flexibility). The following indicators such as lower limb muscle strength, leg movement frequency, spinal flexibility, and static balance were studied. Research methods: theoretical analysis and generalization of scientific and methodological literature, pedagogical testing, and methods of mathematical statistics. The results of the research indicate that the level of physical fitness of the subjects of both the first and second years of study generally corresponds to “average”. The data obtained were compared by age and gender. On the age basis, there is a predominance of qualitative indicators of the 2nd- year students over the indicators of the 1st-year students. Comparison of data by gender showed the predominance of boys’ data over girls’ data. The obtained results testify to the insufficient level of motor fitness of the 1st and 2nd year students.
