To ensure the accuracy and scientific validity of simulation results in discrete element simulation of simulated lunar soil and sieve wheels for lunar surface probes, a method for calibrating the simulation parameters of an analog lunar soil simulation using a box-Behnken experimental design is proposed. First, the particle model and particle size distribution of the discrete element simulation were calibrated based on the determination of the intrinsic parameters, shape parameters, and particle size parameters of this simulated lunar soil. A Box-Behnken experimental design is employed to conduct response surface simulation experiments for the pile angle, obtaining optimal parameter values. The optimal parameter values are applied in the simulation validation, revealing a relative error of only 3% compared to the actual pile angle. This indicates that the obtained results can serve as calibrated values.
