In this article, a self-reliant, grid-interfaced, and solar photovoltaic-battery energy storage system with intelligent control is implemented to provide an uninterruptible supply for essential loads. Zero attracting-generalized modified Blake–Zisserman adaptive filter is implemented to extract the active weight of load current. The presented adaptive filter-based model predictive control strategy with fixed switching frequency is designed to control grid current, supply reactive power to the load and improve power quality indices at ac mains side under surplus and deficit power modes of operation. A novel enhanced third-order generalized integrator-frequency-locked-loop is proposed for autogrid synchronization and islanding detection. In addition, the proposed frequency-locked loop mitigates dc offset and harmonics under polluted grid circumstances. The presented grid-forming voltage control scheme maintains load voltage magnitude and frequency when a grid outage occurs. The effectiveness and reliability of the presented control scheme are investigated through experimental results using OPAL-RT 5600 processor under various operating modes.
