Cancer disparities reflect the interplay of many factors that contribute to health outcomes, including cancer risk, survival, and quality of life (QOL) after a cancer diagnosis. These factors include social determinants of health (SDOH) such as race, ethnicity, and education; health behaviors; biology; and genetics (Alcaraz et al., 2020; American Cancer Society, n.d.). SDOH are influential conditions in which individuals are born, live, work, have recreation, and age (Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, n.d.).
