Introduction There are several color tests that can be used during an optometry consultation, However, there is little evidence on the comparison of both in the field of occupational health and the benefits that applying one instead of the other would bring. Methods An observational, prospective cohort study was carried out in which the Ishihara test was established as the pivot of comparison and the Farnsworth D15 test as the gold standard. Data were collected from 796 patients, the effective performance of both tests and the grouped data of age, sex, severity and ophthalmological pathologies. Results We worked with a sample of 796 patients, 431 women and 365 men, between 18 and 62 years of age. 7 positive patients for Ishihara were obtained, of which 5 obtained positive results for Farnsworth D15. For the age variable, they were grouped in ranges of decades, evidencing a higher frequency in ages between 20 and 40 years, being 2 for 20 years, 3 for 30 years and 3 for 40 years. With the Farnsworth D15 study, they were grouped according to severity, obtaining 3 deutero and 2 protapositives. Logistic regression is performed establishing probabilities of correlation of the variables, obtaining a statistical significance demonstrated by the R-square of 0.0059, with a statisticalPof0.024 for the gender variable, 0.188 for age and 0.997 for pathological history, demonstrating that the disease is more common in men. Discussion and conclusion For candidates for surveillance workers,we were able to demonstrate that the prevalence of the condition is 0.6%, of which the possibility of having said condition that is really restrictive to perform the functions is low, it will be necessary to define in subsequent studies, the cost-effectiveness ratio for companies when performing them.
