Reduced-order physics-based models hold the potential for enhancing the performance and extending the lifespan of lithium-ion batteries in practical battery management system applications. However, there is an urgent need to establish a correlation framework between these models and the integration of robust adaptative aging mechanisms that represent the electrochemical domain. This article uses SPM parameters and real experimental data to emulate different adaptive block configurations. Aiming to define their requirements and optimal applicability. Results show that electrode diffusivity, particle radius, and the proper identification of its boundaries, are the keys to obtaining physically meaningful results with adaptative ageing mechanisms. Key words. Lithium-Ion, Ageing Mechanisms, Physics-Based Models, Battery Management Systems.
