The pursuit of sustainable energy solutions has led to increased interest in harnessing solar power through photovoltaic systems. To optimize the energy conversion and storage process, this study presents the development and performance evaluation of a low-cost N-Channel MOSFET PID Solar Charge Controller specifically designed for a Floating Solar Photovoltaic system. The controller employs a PID algorithm to regulate the PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) signal, effectively managing the charging of a lead-acid battery. In this experimental study, it was observed that the N-Channel MOSFET-based PWM Charge Controller performs comparably to its P-Channel counterpart, indicating its suitability for solar energy applications. The output current is controlled by a PID algorithm that can pin out the target current by 100%. Furthermore, the use of the N-Channel MOSFET not only maintains performance but also reduces the overall cost of constructing the PWM Charge Controller. The findings of this research carry significant implications for the field of solar energy management. The study offers a practical, cost-effective solution for solar charge regulation, particularly in Floating Solar Photovoltaic systems. By encouraging the adoption of low-cost N-Channel MOSFET controllers, this work contributes to the promotion of sustainable energy solutions and cost-effective implementations in the renewable energy sector.
