(Abstracted from J Obstet Gynaecol Can 2024;46(6):102416) Minimally invasive surgery promotes healthy outcomes in a variety of ways and has been shown in hysterectomies to lead to reduced mortality, venous thromboembolism, and infection rates when compared with laparotomy. Two varieties of minimally invasive surgery for hysterectomy include single-incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS) and robotic SILS (rSILS), and each has been shown to be safe and effective with low complication rates and high patient satisfaction.
