We study the arc length detection technology in P-TIG welding of tube-plate annular seams and characterize the trend of arc length variation by the peak welding arc voltage signal. A linear relationship between arc length and arc voltage was established through sampling of welding arcs, extraction of peak arc voltage, and noise reduction processing. The experiment found that this method can detect abnormal points during the welding process, providing support for automatic control of arc length in the future, thereby ensuring the stability of welding quality.
