Thermoplastic polyesters as Poly(ethylene terephthalate) -PET-and Poly(ethylene naphthalate) -PEN-are commonly used as capacitors but can find other high end applications such as scintillators.Among other properties, the radiation resistance of such materials have often been compared, pointing notably to the evolution of physicochemical and optical properties. In this work, the evolution of the luminescence and dielectric properties with irradiation are investigated. We show a much greater sensitivity to radiation of PET in photoluminescence. This greater sensitivity is confirmed considering conduction properties.
