Abstract

This article examines the current state of scholarly expectations and misconceptions about the digital humanities. Specifically, it explores how the problems and research methods of digital humanities compare and contrast with traditional humanities research. Furthermore, it highlights the recent expansion of digital humanities from merely combining technology and humanities to encompassing analysis using digital technologies, reflection on and engagement with digital technologies, and social movements facilitated by digital environments. The article concludes that digital humanities can broaden the scope and impact of knowledge in the humanities, serving as a catalyst for richer and more diverse scholarly communication and practice.
