The article presents key problems and the most common disorders in the functioning of adult co-dependent people. The main aim of the research was to understand the functioning of co-dependent adults as family members with alcohol problems. Particular attention was paid to the problems experienced by co-dependent adults in their biological family, their own family and professional work. The empirical material was collected using an original survey questionnaire, which consisted of 40 questions. The selection of the sample for the study was purposeful, in which the researcher selected units that met the criteria he specified and had specific properties. The study involved 143 co-dependent people who live or lived (were raised) in a family with an alcohol problem. The research results prove that in all indicated areas, co-dependent people experienced various problems and functioning disorders. They show that co-dependent people require a holistic approach from social work to the individual experiencing a problem (addicted person or co-dependent person), focused on heterogeneous influence, which increases the chances of long-term independence.
