The purpose of writing this article was to clarify previously known and publish new information about the life path and scientific heritage of the famous domestic lawyer, labor scientist and specialist in labor law and social security law, longterm head of the department of labor law at Moscow State University, Doctor of Law, Professor A.D. Zaykin. The article consists of two parts. Part one, presented in this issue of the magazine, examines the life path of a prominent domestic scientist. Particular attention is paid to training in military educational institutions, officer service and participation in the Great Patriotic War, as well as training at the Moscow Law Institute The stages of the scientist's academic career at the Faculty of Law of Moscow State University and his trade union activities are considered.
