Abstract In this paper, a simple method for enhancing the bandwidth of a dual-polarized dipole antenna printed on dielectric substrate is presented. By introducing parasitic elements above the crossed dual-polarized dipoles, the bandwidth of the antenna has been increased from 45% to 74% for return loss>15 dB. The parasitic elements can be printed with the dipoles and the integrated balun on the same substrate. The bandwidth enhanced dual-polarized antenna keeps a simple structure, which is easy for manufacturing. The bandwidth enhanced or further enhanced dual-polarized printed-dipole antenna features stable radiation patterns with high isolation, which may find wide applications for 2G/3G/4G/5G base stations.
