Analysis uncovers how maternal genetic variants impact egg aneuploidy in fertility, suggesting quality links.
(Abstracted from Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A 2024;121(45):e2414963121) A complex network of gene interactions governs female fertility, with a large portion of successful fertility hinging on eggs of high quality and sufficient quantity. One aspect of quality is egg euploidy, which refers to correct chromosome complement; the less successful counterpart to this is aneuploidy, which can cause failure to implant or early miscarriage, as well as chromosomal disorders if a pregnancy is successfully carried to term.
