As an important kind of material with a porous structure, metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have been applied extensively in many fields due to their outstanding properties. Herein, the authors proposed a facile approach for preparing a bimetallic MOF (Ce/Fe–NH 2 –UiO-66) with excellent ultraviolet (UV)-blocking properties. Based on the as-obtained particles, flexible MOF/poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) composite films were readily fabricated. According to the characterizations, the as-prepared composite films exhibited splendid performance on UV blocking and a rhodamine B solution showed a much slower degradation rate under the radiation of UV light with the protection of MOF/PVC composite films, which demonstrated the distinguished UV-blocking ability of the as-prepared MOF particles. However, the PVC thermal degradation was not fully developed. The UV-shielding and thermal stabilization mechanism for PVC was discussed. It is expected that this approach will have potential for the large-scale preparation of MOF materials with excellent UV-blocking performance.
