This article provides an overview of the research conducted in the Vall Salina to date. It represents a state of the art in the study of Neolithic salt mining in the open-air Salí and the role that salt played in the Neolithic communities of the Sepulcres en cista Group or Solsonià. This role went far beyond an economic issue and likely involved the elites of these Neolithic communities. This salt allowed the northeastern part of the Peninsula to participate in long-distance networks of prestige goods in the 5th millennium.
