We demonstrate a rapid electrical-field-enhanced corrosion strategy in synthesizing Ni3Fe/NiFe layered double hydroxide nanosheets within 200 s for high-rate (>400 mA cm–2) oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Theoretical calculations suggest that the hybrids have high intrinsic activity with decreased energy barriers, while visualization experiments confirm facilitated bubble detachment. The composite shows competing performances with the overpotential of 283.3 ± 6.1 mV at 1000 mA cm–2. The anion exchange membrane water electrolyzer employing this anode and Pt/C cathode can achieve 1000 mA cm–2 at 2.0 V. This work exemplifies an efficacious strategy in rapidly realizing NiFe-based anodes for high-rate OER.
