This study investigates the factors influencing the readiness of Vietnamese commercial banks (VNCBs) to implement Basel III standards.Using survey data from 211 respondents across 20 VNCBs and the partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) approach, the study examines the effects of expected benefits, awareness, and available resources on banks' readiness to adopt Basel III.The results reveal that both expected benefits and awareness have significant positive impacts on readiness, with awareness having a stronger effect. However, the influence of available resources is negative and not statistically significant. The findings contribute to the limited literature on Basel III implementation in emerging markets and provide valuable insights for policymakers and bank managers in Vietnam. However, the study is limited by its cross-sectional design and the use of selfreported data from a single country context.Future research could explore other potential determinants of bank readiness and compare the experiences of different countries in implementing Basel III.
