This paper focuses on the inverse analysis of ice loads experienced by propellers during navigation in ice-covered waters. An objective function for inverse load calculation of propellers is established using the least squares method and Tikhonov regularization, based on the characteristics of the propeller structure response equation under both static and dynamic loads. By integrating the structural feature parameters and response of the propeller, the inverse calculation of loads under ice conditions is achieved. The inverse calculated results coincide well with actual loads, which reveals that both inverse methods possess high accuracy and are capable of practical engineering applications. Furthermore, it shows how to arrange response monitoring points on propellers in this paper, which are of significant importance for enhancing the navigational safety of the polar ship.
