Many papers have been published describing experimental measurements of the propagation of sound over barriers, but only a small number deal with road traffic noise over earth mounds and often the information contained in them is limited [l,2].There are also many theoretical analyses of the barrier problem, some of which have lead to useful approaches in predicting shielding effects [3,4].The more common prediction methods are based on experimental and analytical work on simple vertical wall or fence type barriers but they are often used to describe the effects of more complicated barrier shapes.
