These days, sustainable building materials are becoming increasingly popular due to the increasinginterest of people and organizations in preserving the environment. Architects and builderscontinue to look for ways to improve their practices by creating materials that contribute to thesustainable construction process and are an effective option to reduce their environmental impact. Therefore, specialists resorted to some materials such as recycled wood, clay, and other materialsthat save energy, reduce waste, and preserve natural resources. The production of sustainablematerials also aims to improve people's quality of life while protecting the environment fromcarbon emissions and saving energy consumption. These materials can be classified into twocategories: the first seeks to contribute to nature as biomaterials, and the second seeks to achieveeconomic efficiency as low-cost, recyclable materials. These two materials were developed tomeet the challenges of dealing with environmental issues. This paper seeks to identify sustainable transparent materials and focuses on studying threeadvanced materials: transparent wood, rock salt crystals, and polycarbonate. The research alsoseeks to emphasize cooperation between industry and technology in producing sustainable, transparent materials that can be used efficiently in smart architecture. On the other hand, theresearch aims to identify the characteristics of these sustainable, transparent materials. For thepaper to reach its goals, an analytical methodology is conducted on transparent wood and rock saltcrystals, as they are vital and sustainable materials, in addition to polycarbonate; as a sustainablerecyclable material. The results showed a major industrial shift in the trend towards manufacturingthese architectural materials to keep pace with the needs of the times and to be compatible withthe needs of smart architecture. The study suggests developing codes and standards to make iteasier for architects and specialists to benefit from these sustainable materials and integrate themwith smart architecture.
