In this work, we introduce the notion of p,q -classical orthogonal polynomials, where p,q is the degree raising shift operator defined by p,q :" p `Β΄1 q ` , where is a nonzero free parameter, represents the identity operator on the space of polynomials , and is the -derivative one.We show that the scaled -Chebychev polynomials of the second kind Γ p, q, 0, are the only p,q -classical orthogonal polynomials.
