Abstract: Mordred in La Mort le Roi Artu and the Stanzaic Morte Arthur displays positive and chivalric attributes in a surprising manner. This article proposes that these qualities stem from his genealogical status in the form of 'double kinship' as nephew and son to Arthur. (JB)
