The aim of the study is to assess the quality of the faculty (teaching staff) of Russian universities in the system of studying social disciplines. The research objective is to determine and assess the quality indicators of teaching staff in the format of their gender and age structure, type of university and position held. Scientific novelty of the research consists in choosing a study object concerning teachers of the humanities, who are the basis for training specialists in any field of study. As a result of the study, indicators of statistical connection are determined in the form of pair correlation coefficients of the dependent variable “quality of teaching staff” and explanatory variables characterizing the structure of the university’s educational environment. Findings state that the quality of teaching staff over the past 10 years in the system of teaching social disciplines has either not changed or even worsened. The directions for additional research in the format of monographic statistical observation have been identified, the objects of which are male lecturers aged 35-49 years, male lecturers of a regular university and female lecturers of a flagship university and a university of special status, male/female lecturers holding the positions of associate professors.
