This study aims to present innovative strategies for enhancing school safety capacity in order to nurture elementary school students in South Korea into individuals capable of taking appropriate actions before incurring harm in various crises, thereby protecting not only themselves but also others. To achieve the research objectives, the study analyzed the background of safety education currently conducted in elementary schools and identified areas for improvement by analyzing the issues experienced in actual educational settings. The study suggests the following strategies for innovating safety education in elementary schools: First, efforts are needed to enhance the resilience of elementary school students in the safety education conducted in schools. Second, for substantive education, it is necessary to develop safety education materials considering the local characteristics of the students' living areas and to establish a system for enhancing the capabilities of instructors. Third, the development of student safety experience centers linked with local communities and schools is required.
