In this paper, we prove the existence of a bounded linear extension operator <m:math xmlns:m="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" overflow="scroll"> <m:mi>T</m:mi> <m:mo>:</m:mo> <m:msup> <m:mrow> <m:mi>L</m:mi> </m:mrow> <m:mrow> <m:mn>2</m:mn> <m:mo>,</m:mo> <m:mi>p</m:mi> </m:mrow> </m:msup> <m:mrow> <m:mo stretchy="false">(</m:mo> <m:mrow> <m:mi>E</m:mi> </m:mrow> <m:mo stretchy="false">)</m:mo> </m:mrow> <m:mo>→</m:mo> <m:msup> <m:mrow> <m:mi>L</m:mi> </m:mrow> <m:mrow> <m:mn>2</m:mn> <m:mo>,</m:mo> <m:mi>p</m:mi> </m:mrow> </m:msup> <m:mrow> <m:mo stretchy="false">(</m:mo> <m:mrow> <m:msup> <m:mrow> <m:mi mathvariant="double-struck">R</m:mi> </m:mrow> <m:mrow> <m:mn>2</m:mn> </m:mrow> </m:msup> </m:mrow> <m:mo stretchy="false">)</m:mo> </m:mrow> </m:math> T:L2,p(E)→ L2,p(R²) when 1 < p < 2, where <m:math xmlns:m="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" overflow="scroll"> <m:mi>E</m:mi> <m:mo>⊂</m:mo> <m:msup> <m:mrow> <m:mi mathvariant="double-struck">R</m:mi> </m:mrow> <m:mrow> <m:mn>2</m:mn> </m:mrow> </m:msup> </m:math> E⊂ R² is a certain discrete set with fractal structure. Our proof makes use of a theorem of Fefferman–Klartag (“Linear extension operators for Sobolev spaces on radially symmetric binary trees,” Adv. Nonlinear Stud. , vol. 23, no. 1, p. 20220075, 2023) on the existence of linear extension operators for radially symmetric binary trees.
