The purpose of this study is to understand the meaning of the vivid experiences of nursing students, such as their thoughts and feelings, while participating in club activities related to caring for the elderly with dementia and to explore the essence of them. The data were collected from focus group interviews with nine nursing students who participated in the dementia care club activities and were analyzed using qualitative content analysis.Eighty-three codes were derived based on the meaning composition extracted from the original data, 22 subcategories were derived again, and six categories were derived through systematic conceptualization. As a result of the analysis, the six categories of nursing students' experience in club activities related to caring for the elderly with dementia are unimaginable difficulties in caring for the elderly with dementia, volunteer activities that come with weight, reward for helpful activities, changes in perspective on the elderly, enriching college life, establishing shared values.Based on these results, it is necessary to operate various non-curricular programs to promote understanding of the elderly with dementia in an aging society, and it is believed that this can serve as an opportunity to train in responsibilities and duties as a social community. In addition, it is proposed that extracurricular activities for college students' care be expanded to the local community and operate as various extracurricular programs at the national level that are continuously operated based on national policy support.
