The emergence and rapid development of computer technology determined the research area of many scientists in the early 60’s of the XX century. Despite the disproportionally small processing speed and memory compared to modern computers, it was possible to carry out time-consuming calculations and process large volumes of information on the first (huge) computers. Given the review of results on mathematical modelling of the impact of economic activity on natural environment, achieved by scientists working in various periods of research activity, starting from the early 60s of the XX century, in the institutes of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (Russian Academy of Sciences), (RAS): Leningrad Department of Steklov Institute of Mathematics (LOMI), Leningrad Department of Central Economic Mathematical Institute (LO CEMI), Institute of Socio-Economic Problems, Institute for Economics and Mathematics at Leningrad (St.-Petersburg) (EMI RAS), Institute for Regional Economic Studies (IPES RAS), Baikal Limnological Station, Limnological Institute Siberian Branch (LIN SB RAS), Sechenov Institute of Evolutionary Physiology and Biochemistry (IEFB RAS).
