The development of computer vision technology has revolutionized medical diagnostics by offering solutions to critical healthcare problems. One of these challenges is the effective care and management of patients with pneumothorax, an emergency medical care characterized by air accumulation in the pleural cavity. In emergencies and natural disasters, timely and accurate detection of pneumothorax is critical, as delays in diagnostics can lead to severe consequences. This study focuses on the intricacies of improving medical image analysis for emergency care, focusing not only on technological innovations, but also on the potential impact on patient outcomes. The study contributes to the development of computer vision methodologies in an effort to improve emergency diagnostic methods, thereby raising the standard of quality care for patients with pneumothorax in difficult circumstances. In addition, the study goes beyond the detection and segmentation of pneumothorax and highlights the need for a comprehensive assessment of lung pathologies. This includes not only detecting but also quantifying the extent of lung damage, providing healthcare professionals with a tool for more accurate diagnosis.
