A methodology is presented for carrying out major linear quasi-static structural analysis of naval surface ships using the superelement technique incorporated in the SESAH69C finite element computer program.Attention is drawn to quality assurance procedures undertaken at each stage of the analysis. In particular the application is described of a recently developed interactive graphic quality assurance processor which has proved to be particularly effective in ensuring the integrity of the structural model. The use is highlighted of other batch and interactive graphic utility programs, including the FEMVIEW results postprocessor.
