The implementation of molecular switches within host–guest complexes allows the noncovalent ligation of molecular fragments, resulting in what E. Pazos, M. D. García, and co-workers have termed stimuli-responsive click chemistry. Their Concept article (DOI: 10.1002/chem.202400743) shows that these supramolecular systems are ideal candidates for controlling molecular conjugation on demand, opening up new possibilities towards a more function-oriented chemical synthesis.
