Accurate and effective calculation of carbon emissions is paramount in our endeavor to reduce carbon emissions and achieve the goal of "carbon peak and carbon neutrality." However, the current method proposed by the National Climate Strategy Center of China for accounting for regional carbon dioxide emissions has certain limitations. It exclusively focuses on carbon dioxide emissions stemming from fossil fuel power generation, disregarding the impact of new energy power sources. Consequently, it fails to accurately capture the value of green power. This not only impedes the cost-benefit analysis of power transmission companies but also neglects to provide guidance for power-consuming entities to proactively adjust their power consumption behavior. To address these challenges, this article proposes a comprehensive approach that encompasses both thermal power generation and new energy power generation to calculate carbon dioxide emission factor of the regional power grid. It improves the traditional method for accounting for the regional grid carbon dioxide emission factor, which considers the proportion and carbon dioxide emissions associated with new energy power in power generation. Furthermore, this method incorporates the influence of digital technology, facilitating a more precise reflection of the value of green power. The implementation of this innovative approach holds significant promise in attaining the objective of carbon peak and carbon neutrality.
