The purpose of the work – carry out a review of published clinical studies on the effectof antihypertensive therapy with beta-blockers on the course of arterial hypertension.Conclusions. Data from the literature testify that the rapid growth in recent years inthe frequency of prescribing vasodilatory β- ABs is due to their presence of a numberof advantages compared to conventional cardioselective drugs (without vasodilatorproperties). The advantages of vasodilating β- ABs include the absence of a negativeeffect on lipid and carbohydrate metabolism, the possibility of their safe combination withthiazide and thiazide-like diuretics, a proportional decrease in central and peripheralblood pressure, a minimal effect on bronchial patency, the absence of a negative effect onerectile function, a decrease in frequency cardiovascular complications in patients witharterial hypertension.
