Pineapple disease caused by Ceratocystis paradoxa results in a considerable loss in sett germination and reduce cane yield. The disease is severe in heavy-textured soils and poorly drained fields, and it can reduce germination by up to 47%.The pathogen attacks setts in the soil and causes considerable damage, especially when conditions for germination and subsequent growth are not favorable. As a result, gaps appear in the fields which necessitate replanting involving extra expenditure.Occasionally, under adverse conditions, causing heavy damage. For the assessment of disease status and varieties susceptibility to pineapple disease, an extensive survey was conducted on sugarcane fields of 2021-2022 in Kenana Sugarcane Company.Isolation of the Pathogen was done by culture in Petri dishes containing PDA the segments of sugarcane setts samples were incubated at 28±2°.The survey results showed that the disease symptoms appeared clearly in the field, while the result of laboratory isolation indicated that the pure culture of the causing pathogen, Ceratocystisparadoxa based on detailed culture morphology. The result of the pathogenicity test in pot culture under greenhouse conditions with the pathogenic culture of Ceratocystis paradoxa induced the same symptoms. And re-isolation of the pathogen is similar to the isolation from fields. As sugarcane is an important crop in Sudan, we concluded that pineapple setts rot of sugarcane affects cane productivity.
