The presence of nuclear progesterone receptors (nPR)s in certain types of cancer is associated with a better prognosis. Possibly previous treatment of these cancers with PR antagonists (a)/modulators that have been disappointing may be related to suppressing the nPR, and thus, whatever product it secretes that helps thwart cancer growth. In contrast, PRas have been found to promote great palliation and extension of life in a variety of very advanced cancers that are devoid of the nPR. The target is hypothesized to be membrane (m) PRs with inhibition of the immunosuppressive protein the progesterone induced blocking factor (PIBF).
