Case report describes ectopic adrenocorticotropic hormone syndrome from a pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor, highlighting the aggressive nature and therapeutic challenges of this rare malignancy.
Ectopic adrenocorticotropic hormone syndrome (EAS) from pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PNET) is considered very rare with an incidence rate of 1-2 cases per million people per year. While more common functional PNET are known to produce gastrin, insulin, or glucagon, tumors that secrete adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) and cause Cushing's syndrome tend to be more aggressive and difficult to manage. In this case report, we present a rare case of Cushing's syndrome due to EAS from PNET.
