We completely overhauled the laboratory portion (BIOL 2425) of our Human Physiology course at Salt Lake Community College. Our objective was to create a laboratory component that allows students to explore Human Physiology more deeply through iterative and connected projects that scaffold into a group Course-based Undergraduate Research Experience (CURE). We report the results from seven semesters of weekly student assessments. Our findings suggest that implementing this CURE increases undergraduate involvement in research and helps students achieve a deeper understanding of Human Physiology concepts.
