To calculate the average direct medical cost for 01 inpatient hospitalized and treatment for chronic hepatitis B from the perspective of the service payer at Bach Mai Hospital in 2023. Using cross-sectional descriptive study, collecting data from hospital discharge records with 94 inpatients who diagnosed with chronic hepatitis B at Bach Mai Hospital from June 2022 to June 2023. The median direct medical cost for chronic hepatitis B inpatient hospitalized is 9 million VND. The average duration of hospitalization for chronic hepatitis B patients is 12,9 (± 6,8) days, and the the median daily cost is 927.085 VND. In the cost group, the cost of medication, blood, and infusion is the highest at 42,3%. The treatment cost of hepatocellular carcinoma stage is twice as much as that of patients with cirrhosis and non- cirrhosis stage, the difference is statistically significant. The more complex the treatment of advanced diseases, the higher the cost. The treatment cost burden of drug components, blood, and infusion is significant. Therefore, Bach Mai Hospital needs to implement a drug price control solution to reduce treatment costs.
