In today's digital landscape, Data Loss Prevention (DLP) is crucial for safeguarding sensitive information. Organizations rely on third-party DLP solutions like Symantec Web Security Service, McAfee Web Protection, and Forcepoint Web Security to prevent data leakage via web browsers. However, these solutions have limitations. Symantec's Web Security Service may have constraints in customization and scalability, while McAfee Web Protection's configuration complexity and potential performance whereas Forcepoint Web Security may generate false positives and face compatibility issues. It's essential to evaluate DLP solutions thoroughly to ensure effective data loss prevention. The paper "SentinelGuard: Intelligent Text Data Loss Prevention Mechanism" proposes a comprehensive approach to mitigate cybersecurity risks related to text-based data leakage. Unlike traditional DLP products, this open-source solution focuses not only on establishing and updating policies but also on minimizing false positives. It deploys an AI model within the organization's premises, ensuring immunity to the organization's data. It introduces an advanced web extension that captures and securely transfers all browser-entered data to an organization's server. Utilizing BERT (Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers) hosted on the server, trained on organization-specific datasets, the system accurately classifies extracted text to enhance sensitivity detection. Validation entails assessing detected data volume, comparing other DLP products used by organizations. By seamlessly integrating technologies and analysis processes, SentinelGuard offers organizations confidence and robust security measures in the digital realm.
