With the development of Internet technology, online music teaching platform has gradually become an important way to learn music. Under this social background, it becomes very important to study how to optimize and improve the effect of online music teaching platform by using data mining algorithm. Moreover, the data mining algorithm can further strengthen the analysis and mining of a large number of learning data on the platform, and provide a scientific basis for individualized education. Data mining algorithms can also analyze students' learning habits, interests and other information, so as to achieve personalized teaching. Moreover, the platform can accurately recommend music teaching content suitable for each student's corresponding level of interest. According to the experimental data, the number of users of the online music teaching platform based on data mining algorithm is more than 76.23%, and the highest value even reaches 94.62%. Not only that, the teaching platform has also greatly improved the learning of students, and the proportion of students who use the system is as high as 84.05%. It can be seen that this research can improve the effect of online music teaching through data mining algorithm, and finally promote the completion of personalized learning.
