Abstract

Finding faults in underground cables is vital for preserving a steady electricity supply and reducing outages. Since they are safer and more visually appealing, cables beneath the ground are frequently utilised in densely populated areas. But when problems arise, they stop families, companies, and factories from receiving electricity continuously. Because the current fluctuates when a problem like a short circuit happens, the fall in voltage will change based on the period that the fault remains in the cable. The framework of a device that can examine the state of an underground cable passage despite hazardous environments where people's existence poses a risk is shown in this work. Therefore, it is appropriate to conduct a thorough check of the subterranean cable from one end to the other. As a result, this contextual understanding is assessed at endpoints and helps us gauge the degree of threat. Even though there were a number of methods used to activate this web-based tracking mechanism. The proposed model utilized embedded microcontroller enabled continuous fault monitoring and detection mechanism through internet of things enabled platform.
