Introduction Patient-derived xenografts preserve the histomorphology and molecular pathology of patient tumors. Thus, PDX better represent therapy response than conventional cell line-derived models. Despite these advantages, PDX have not gained widespread acceptance in preclinical research. Reasons are limited material availability, low growth rates in mouse models, and the need to limit animal testing. Therefore, the aim of this study was to generate PDX from head and neck tumors in the CAM assay.
