The hierarchical structure of AZO/ZnO nanowires were prepared on ITO glass using a hydrothermal method. To fabricate the electrochromic electrode, amorphous WO <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf> film was deposited on AZO/ZnO nanowires through sputtering. The WO <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf> /AZO/ZnO exhibited a high optical contrast of 32.7% at a wavelength of 650 nm. Compared with WO <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf> /ZnO, the WO <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf> /AZO/ZnO exhibited a faster bleaching process (reduced from 1.7 s to 1.1 s) and higher stability (improving by 32% in <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">iₐ</tex> and 18.7% in <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">ic</tex> |),
