Abstract

Recently a registrar asked me whether FERPA required colleges to keep records of any disclosures that her office makes. Her college's attorney had just requested to see a past student's records. The registrar wondered whether she should get an official letter requesting the records and whether that letter, if needed, should include a reason for the disclosure.
